Nate B. - Crushing Crash B's and Nutrition

Since joining CFCL I have lost 15 pounds and another 10 pounds since doing a Nutrition Program with Mat. I was definitely skeptical about eating more calories in an effort to lose weight, but after a few weeks I bought in and started seeing results.

Gabby M. - Putting In The Extra Work to Excel and Compete

A few things that I have learned over the course of all my comps and training in CrossFit is your body is crazy machine that can do anything when you put the work in.  Mental toughness is a very really thing, it will push you to go further and harder not only during workouts but outside of the gym as well. Lastly, its awesome to get out of your comfort zone and test yourself against a new crowd. Competitions test your fitness and allow you to create new goals!

Jamie K. - Running My First 5-miler

To be honest, my running training leading up to the 5-miler was pretty much non-existent.  Prior to this, the most I’d ever run in terms of a race was a 5K, and the most I’d run continuously was maybe four miles (and that was a long time ago!).  Basically, the only training I did was CrossFit.  The Thursday before the race I went out for a run to see if five miles was doable since I hadn’t ran more than a mile consecutively in over six months.  I started at a moderate pace and to my own amazement, just kept going. For 4.5 miles.  At that point I knew that I would be fine and that CrossFit had somehow accidentally made me a runner (well, almost).

Shane M. - Training for the Fire House

I had considered trying CrossFit for years and always thought just an hour workout wouldn’t be enough since I usually spent a few hours in the gym. A few other firefighters and friends told me to come check out City Line and I haven’t looked back since. I have seen changes in my body, my energy level and my mindset. I have never been in as good of shape as I am today thanks to the daily workouts.

Karla M - Competing in Puerto Rico

Barbell Bettys was definitely a great experience. It was a very supportive environment, the girls were really nice and encouraging, and coach Cassi is awesome! It was really cool learning how to lift correctly and making progress every time. I’ve never felt stronger. I was surprised by the confidence I gained during Betty’s, it was good for WODs and for my other outside activities. My favorite story about how Betty’s made me stronger and more confident is when I mistakenly ended up in a difficult hiking trail in Acadia National Park. It felt more like rock climbing than hiking, but somehow I was not scared, I felt so strong and I was able to get to the top of the mountain. I think that before Betty’s (and crossfit in general) I would have quit at the first steep climb.
